last modified August 05, 2011

Botanical names change as our knowledge of plant relationships evolves. There is now a list of 350 newer botanical names for the plants listed in Newcomb's Wildflower Guide. Steve Young, New York Flora Association board member, has updated the list of the scientific names in Newcomb's Wildflower Guide to the names now in the New York Flora Atlas. There is a change on almost every page of NWG. As more names change, Steve will continue to update the list. He completed this list in 2010 and it is on a google doc. This list contains the current name changes for the plants in Lawrence Newcomb's book. With the November 2011 publication of Flora Novae Angliae, a new flora of the New England region written by the Society's Research Botanist, Arthur Haines, there may be additional name changes.
